A. The effect on the nervous system:

"From recent developments in physiology, particularly through studies of the central nervous system, we know of the important role that the nervous system plays in the human body. The nervous system, especially the brain, is the center that controls and regulates all other systems and organs. The nervous system enables humans to adapt to and transform their environment through conditioned and unconditioned reflexes. At the same time, it coordinates all activities of the body systems and organs. Therefore, any physical exercise that strengthens the function of the central nervous system is beneficial to the entire body. This is the secret of Taijiquan.

In Taijiquan, one is encouraged to find "calm", to be fully concentrated and to be able to give full attention to every part of one's body. This is also a very good training for the mind. Furthermore, the exercises require the eyes, upper limbs, torso, and lower limbs to be moved calmly and harmoniously, without abrupt interruptions. Some movements are very complex and require good control of the body and a strong sense of balance. This can only be achieved through intensive brain activity. This mobilizes the central nervous system like all other organs and systems. Taijiquan is a sport that demands your full potential, and all who practice Taijiquan share a unique experience: complete relaxation and a radiant feeling of warmth within each individual; unexpected flexibility and quick reactions in interactions with one another. These are unmistakable signs of a life-affirming mood and high motivation that stimulate the physiological mechanism of the entire body. Experiments show that, even before performing the exercises, one can influence the chemical composition of the blood, the dynamic circulation process, the gaseous metabolic process, etc., simply by changing one's mood. For chronically ill patients, a life-affirming state of mind is all the more important, as it not only activates the physiological mechanism but also helps to dispel the patient's thoughts of death and promotes recovery.

Taijiquan has a positive effect on the central nervous system."
